Greentainer Project (Italy)
The Greentainer Project in Italy uses a shipping container to create residential or exhibition spaces. High technology is applied for heating/cooling, computer controls, LED lighting, ceramic paints to reduce heat gain and a 2 KW photovoltaic system. The PV system is linked to 500-amp battery storage. The panels are mounted flat on the roof so that the Greentainer can be positioned towards any direction, even though there are potential efficiency losses of about 10 to 15 percent.
