The Canton or Guangzhou TV tower represents and rejuvenates the centuries-old industrial center of Canton, China, (10 million inhabitants). The architects, Information Based Architecture from Amsterdam, say that their aim was to create a tower that would not feel massive or dominating, but instead would invite people in. There is a skywalk and an outdoor spiraling staircase that takes visitors up through the ′waist′ of the building. On the very top of the building is a large open-air sloping panoramic deck (54m x 42m) where one can sit down and enjoy the view while feeling the wind. Completed in September 2010, the Guangzhou Tower is the world′s tallest TV tower (610m), beating Toronto′s CN-tower (535m), as of Janaury 2011.
