The 2008 Campus Master Plan was created to guide sustainable development over the next 15 years (until the year 2020). It considers a wide range of opportunities for making significant contributions towards balancing both carbon use and waste production and includes transportation modes and patterns, energy production and use, campus biome protection (biomes are commonly referred to as ecosystems, or communities of plants, animals and soil organisms), food production, construction practices, waste stream management, and student life and housing.
