SOLAR CONNEXION Installs 11.52 kW Solar Array at New River Woodworks LLC

Custom woodworking shop offsets energy usage with 48 roof-mounted solar panels

Radford, VA – January 14, 2013 – Solar Connexion recently completed the installation 48 photovoltaic panels on the roof of New River Woodworks LLC in Radford, Virginia. The array provides a combined total power output of 11.52 kW and the grid-tie, net-metered system is expected to produce between 17,000 and 19,000 kWh per year. New River Woodworks is a state-of-the-art custom manufacturing facility that utilizes equipment such as a CNC router, edge banders, a computerized saw, and custom finishing tools. As such, they are alert for ways to reduce their energy use and impact on the environment. “We did this to reduce our carbon footprint and replace what we take from the grid with totally green energy,” said New River Woodworks owner William Lacy. “The timing was right…and it was the right thing to do. The installation looks great!”

The system is comprised of the 800 square foot array and two inverters that convert the solar (DC) energy into grid power (AC). It took less than a week to install and without disruption to the workflow of New River Woodworks. “With the price of photovoltaic panels at a historic low and rapidly increasing electric utility rates, New River Woodworks was wise to invest now in a system that will deliver clean energy for many decades to come,” explained Bryan Walsh of Solar Connexion. “Customers are giving greater consideration to the environmental stewardship of companies they choose to work with.”
