Teal Farm is a future-looking farm, ecological preserve, and residence seeking to prototype perpetual agriculture, building, and energy systems capable of meeting regional food and energy needs within the tumultuous conditions of climate change, fluctuating energy supplies, and a shifting global economy. Teal Farm’s lands comprise a 1300-acre northern hardwood watershed, with streams, ponds, waterfalls, and high mountain pastures. Two new buildings—an 8000-square-foot renovated farmhouse and new 12,000-square food energy barn—have been designed to run on a state-of-the-art integrated renewable energy system and to express the art of ecological design at its best.
