Leather Tile

Source

These leather tiles are made from recycled leather that is produced in a similar way to recycled paper: it's pulped and bonded together again. Real leather scraps are collected from furniture, shoe, auto and other factories, then stones grind the leather to shreds. The leather pieces and water are mixed with naturally-binding and other ingredients, such as natural rubber and acacia wood bark. Acacia is a rapidly renewable tree species, and rubber is tapped from rubber trees, in a process similar to gathering maple-sap. Finally, the leather pulp is formed into a sheet or roll and mechanically processed for size, color, and texture. The pulp is approximately 3” thick or more before it gets compressed into a dense leather tile.

All of EcoDomo's products are made from either rapidly sustainable materials, pre or post-consumer materials. They have a variety of options for adhesives, finishes, and maintenance which are also “green” due to their water-based content, low-VOC, or sustainable nature.
